The annual Indiana Coaches Association All State teams were recently released in Cross Country and four Golden Eagles earned Class 2A All State Honors - Seniors Corban Tippey and Brayden Sommers along with Junior Wyatt Hart and Sophomore Josh Clark. After the season is complete the Coaches Association releases their All State Teams that are broken up into the four classes used for basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball. Tippey earned his 2nd All State Honor of his career but this year was a 1st Team Selection. Sommers, Hart, and Clark were all 1st time honorees. Roughly 30+ athletes make the All State Team in Class 2A each fall with the Top 12 ranked athletes earning 1st Team accolades. The four Golden eagles earned the honor by helping lead the Golden Eagles to a remarkable fall season which featured four Major Invitational Championships (Shelbyville, Oak Hill, Columbus North, and New Haven), a Grant 4 Championship, a Central Indiana Conference Championship, and an IHSAA Marion Sectional Runner Up to a Top 15 overall State Ranked Yorktown team ranked #1 in Class 3A. The Golden Eagles climbed from just inside the Top 10 preseason rankings to as high as #2 in Class 2A in the online computer rankings. The team qualified for the IHSAA New Haven Super Regional. All four Golden Eagles individually were All County, All Conference, and All Sectional. The Golden Eagles as a team had a stretch over 2 months of over 140 Wins and 0 losses. Tippey garnered 1st Team All State Honors after qualifying for the IHSAA State Finals. He was the individual Champion at the Grant 4, Conference Runner Up, and earned a podium spot in four additional major invites. Tippey concluded his career by setting a new personal best of 16:16 good enough for 13th I OHXC Program All Time History. His senior season was ranked the 19th best season by a Golden Eagle in Program History. Tippey is 1 of 23 1st Team All State selections for OHXC over the last 25 seasons. Hart was the individual Runner Up at the Grant 4 while he, Sommers, and Clark all earned All County, All Conference, and All Sectional Honors. Each also earned a podium finish in 4 major invitationals. All four recorded new personal bests this season climbing the OHXC Program All Time Rankings. Sommers finished his career ranked 26th All Time, Hart and Clark return next fall ranked 50th and 60th respectively. By making the All State team this fall Tippey, Sommers, Hart, and Clark became 1 of 75 athletes to earn All State Honors for OHXC in the last 25 years. Tippey is 1 of only 18 athletes in program history to earn multiple All State Honors. OHXC has now had at last one Class 2A or 3A All State Athlete for 26 straight years. The program has had 44 All State Selections the last 12 seasons. Along with two Lady Eagles that earned All State Honors a program all time best 6 OHXC Athletes made the All State Team.
