Oak Hill varsity beat Western on Saturday night in Russiaville by a score of 56-36. The victory was a combination of hustle, defensive pressure and great team offense. The Lady Eagles were diving all over the floor for loose balls and several tie ups throughout the game. This hustle led to 13 steals along with 6 more deflections. Oak Hill held a very good Lady Panthers team to 14 points below their scoring average. Strong pressure on the perimeter along with Bri Dailey and Morgan Cates protecting the rim inside made it difficult for Western to get good looks. Oak Hill’s offense took a little bit to get started but the ball movement (14 assists on 26 field goals) got the Oak Hill offense going. Oak Hill was very effective inside the arc and hit 67% of their free throws. Brianna Dailey led the team with 18 points, but the balanced scoring also came from Erika Newhouse with 11 and Morgan Cates with 10. Sela Sherron scored 6 off the bench. Erika and Bri led the team with 8 rebounds. A great win for the Lady Eagles! We will see you at Oak Hill Tuesday night for a home game vs a very strong Maconaquah team.
