Boys Varsity Basketball defeated 12th ranked(2A) Frankton by 24 points! The defensive pressure the Golden Eagles put on took away the height advantage of Frankton who started the game with two 6’3” guards a 6’5” forward and a 6’7” center and another 6’8” starter. The Golden Eagles held the Frankton Eagles to only 17 points the first 3 quarters before letting off the brakes a bit in the 4th up by 31 entering the last quarter., ultimately winning by 24. The Golden Eagles offense was led tonight by junior Jayden Younce connecting on 5 threes, and finishing with 17 points and a pair of steals and rebounds for an outstanding game. Senior RJ Shugart scored 14 points with 3 rebounds and a pair of assists. Freshman Will Tonagel had 9 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals while applying aggressive, defensive pressure all night. Junior Jace Tonagel had 6 points, while dishing out 7 assists and had 3 steals from the point guard position with his menacing defensive pressure to match his brother’s. Landon Cruzan and Beckham Lamb each had 4 points with Landon Watts rounding it out with 2 points. The 2nd ranked (2A) Golden Eagles are now 5-0 on the year and 2-0 in the conference. They travel to Maconaquah Tuesday night for a triple header with the freshmen starting at 4:30, and the JV and Varsity to follow.
