The 8th grade boys basketball team picked up an opening round win over host Eastbrook Thursday in a game that was originally scheduled for Monday, but got pushed back by weather. They got off to a bit of a slow start being held scoreless for the first 1:15 of the game; however, with an uptick in defensive intensity the Eagles outscored the Panthers 27-5 over the next 4:45 of the first quarter. Defensively, the Golden Eagles accumulated 21 steals led by Isaiah Miller with 7 of his own. Defense and ball movement was the key to the game tonight as the Eagles also had 13 assists led by Caleb Clark with 5. High scorer on the evening was Miller with 19, followed by Clark and Zach Means with 10 each. Rounding out the scoring were Weston Roth with 9 (on 5-6 from the FT line), Hunter Chism with 8 and Naseer Ajamu with 5. Means and Ajamu each had 3 steals apiece and Roth, Grayston Bricker and Zane Pierre all had 2 steals each. The Oak Hill squad will be back in action on Saturday morning facing off against the winner of Madison-Grant vs. Alexandria at 10:15 at Frankton.
