The Oak Hill Golden Eagles played in one of the area's best rivalries Monday night at the historic Bill Green Athletic Arena, delivering a dominant 47–20 victory over the host Marion Giants. The opening quarter was a cautious, low-scoring affair as both teams shook off the rust and felt each other out. Oak Hill drew first blood and never trailed from that point forward. Corey Templin and Matthew Lawson each knocked down a field goal, while Cristian Pavey added two free throws to secure a 6–2 lead after one. The second quarter was pure fireworks from deep. The Golden Eagles were locked and loaded from beyond the arc, draining six three-pointers to explode for 18 combined points. Graham Arrendale led the barrage with three triples, Templin added two of his own, and Tytan Ott splashed one more. The phrase “3 points is better than 2” rang true as Oak Hill only recorded three-point field goals in the second frame, carrying a commanding 24–10 halftime advantage. Marion came out with renewed fire in the third, upping physicality and pace to test the Eagles early. The Giants scored first in the half, but Oak Hill responded with elite execution and discipline. The Golden Eagles ripped off 15 straight points on drives and finishes inside from Lawson, Tayt Bowlin, and Templin. The outside stroke stayed hot too as Arrendale and Ott each added another triple. Oak Hill held the Giants scoreless in the third quarter after their initial bucket, stretching the lead to 39–13 entering the fourth. With the outcome decided, the Golden Eagles kept their foot firmly on the gas. Outstanding team defense forced turnovers and closed driving lanes, while the sideline break attack continued to produce easy buckets. Arrendale and Lawson buried more threes, Pavey hit two free throws, and Oak Hill won the final frame to cap a complete performance. The suffocating defense frustrated Marion all night, making open looks and penetration scarce. Oak Hill’s commitment to the game plan turned a rivalry battle into a statement win for the Eagles. Arrendale paced the attack with 14 points, Templin added 12, Lawson 9, Ott 6, Pavey 4, and Bowlin 2. The Golden Eagles improve to 10–3 and carry some momentum into Wednesday’s road test at Peru, tip-off 6:15 p.m.
