The Lady Eagles fought hard today and came away with the CIC Championship against Blackford!! Blackford executed a dribble drive offense and played 2-2-1 press back into a zone against Oak Hill. The Lady Eagles struggled to beat the press the first couple possessions, but quickly figured out how to beat it with the pass. Kate Bajor helped boost the Eagles with two jump shots in the paint in the first quarter. Quinn Massey also had 2 buckets in the first quarter. Oak Hill was down 8-11 going into the 2nd quarter. They continued to fight and were able to slow the Bruins down a little bit after switching to an aggressive 2-3 zone. The Eagles were down 18-19 going into half-time, but they did not get down. They came out aggressive in the 2nd half not ready to give up! They doubled down on defense and did not let Blackford score in the 3rd quarter and only allowed one bucket in the 4th quarter. Their defensive hustle and effort turned into buckets for the Eagles! Oak Hill won 32-21. Quinn Massey led in scoring for Oak Hill with 11 points! Her defense in the second half helped shut down Blackford's top scorer and helped keep her to only 2 points in the second half. Kourtney Volmer had 7 points, a couple steals, and 3 rebounds! Allie Tonagel and Berklie Hardman had 5 points each. A. Tonagel also had 4 steals and 6 rebounds. B. Hardman had 4 steals and 8 rebounds. Kate Bajor had 4 points and 4 rebounds! The Eagles have one more game to play Monday night at Northfield.
