Freshmen Boys Defeat Caston | 46-19

The Oak Hill Golden Eagles delivered a resounding response Tuesday night at home, shaking off the previous evening’s conference setback with a commanding 46–19 victory over the Caston Comets. After the tough loss to Alexandria, Oak Hill came out determined to play “Oak Hill basketball.” The first quarter set the tone: crisp ball movement, balanced scoring, and suffocating defense. Graham Arrendale and Corey Templin each drained a three-pointer, while Tytan Ott and Matthew Lawson finished layups in transition. The Golden Eagles’ pressure held Caston to just two points, building an early 10–2 lead. The dominance continued in the second. Tanner Martin caught fire from deep, burying two threes to lead the charge, while Arrendale and Tayt Bowlin each added two points inside. Once again, the defense was the story - the Comets managed only three points as Oak Hill carried a commanding 20-5 halftime advantage. Coach Law challenged his squad at the break to stay locked into the process, ignore the scoreboard, and keep stacking good possessions. The Golden Eagles answered emphatically in the third, tying a season-high quarter output with 18 points while limiting Caston to four. Martin and Templin each splashed two more threes each (giving Martin four on the night), Arrendale scored two buckets, and Cristian Pavey added one inside. The defense reached another level leading to easy offense and made the lead insurmountable at 38–9 entering the fourth. Even with the game well in hand, Oak Hill maintained intensity through the final horn. Arrendale poured in six more points, and Pavey added two as the Golden Eagles closed out the win. This was a classic “defense leads to offense” night - shared ball movement, transition opportunities, and suffocating pressure created easy looks and frustrated Caston from start to finish. Arrendale led all scorers with 15 points, Martin added 12 (four threes), Templin 9, Pavey 4, and Ott, Bowlin, and Lawson each chipped in 2. The Golden Eagles bounced back with purpose and pride, proving their resilience and commitment to the process. Now they turn their focus to the season finale: a home triple-header against Blackford Friday night, tip-off 5:00 p.m.
