The Golden Eagles made a statement tonight against a really good Blackford team. The Bruins came in and gave it their best shot, and the Golden Eagles took it and turned a somewhat close 10 point game at the half to a 21 point lead after three quarters ultimately winning by 23. The Tonagel brothers,Jace and Will got the scoring started for the Eagles both draining three pointers scoring 6 and 5 points in the quarter respectively. Elzinga scored the other 2 points in the quarter for the 13-9 first quarter lead. Then in the 2nd quarter the ball found RJ Shugart, and RJ found the basket! RJ had 14 in the quarter. In the third quarter the guys got the ball to RJ some more and he responded with 13 more points. The Golden Eagles played such a complete game on both sides of the ball! Will Tonagel drew the straw guarding their star player and played phenomenal defense throughout the night as did all the Golden Eagles! On the offensive side the Golden Eagles put 4 players in double digits. RJ Shugart finished the night with a career high 32 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals. Will Tonagel had 12 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Jace Tonagel had a double double with 11 points and 12 assists. KD Simmons had 10 points and 4 rebounds off the bench. Luke Elzinga had 5 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds. Jayden Younce had 3 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. The Golden Eagles are now 16-1, and your outright CIC Conference champions. The boys will be back in action Tuesday night as they host Tipton!
