The boys were outstanding during Prelims on Thursday and the Finals on Saturday. The boys placed third overall and scored a program record 303.5 points and sent 2 relays and 5 individual events on to the State Championships next Friday and Saturday. The last time Oak Hill had a Sectional Champion was back in 2004. Today we had 4. The 200 Medley Relay of McCann, Bledsoe, McQuiston and Carey... Cooper McQuiston (100 free), Cael McCann (100 Fly) and Evan Bledsoe (100 Breast) all were crowned Sectional Champions and punched a state ticket. Cooper McQuiston (200 Free), Cael McCann (50 Free) and the 200 Free Relay of McCann, Carey, Bledsoe and McQuiston all made it to state via a state qualifying time. To make things better, every single swimmer had at least 1 lifetime best during sectionals. The boys put together the best meet I have seen from a team I have coached (in the 16 years I have been a coach). Max McQuiston, Braylon Carey, Cooper McQuiston, Cael McCann, Evan Bledsoe, Eli Gardner and Konner Bullick can now say they all rank in the program's top ten in at least 1 event. I could not be more proud of this team. We went up against some of the best swimmers in the state. Not only did we not flinch, we competed and put forth an effort that should make every Golden Eagle proud. The boys earned a lot of respect at this meet. I believe that every coach at that meet came up to me at some point to tell me how impressive the boys were swimming. You all should be proud. I know I am proud of all of you! Congratulations on a job well done. But.....for some of you, we have one more week! Let's put the Oak Hill logo on the state swim map!
