OHTF traveled to Indianapolis Tuesday night for a chance to compete on the famous Indiana State Fairgrounds Fall Creek Pavilion Indoor Track in their last Hoosiers State Relays Qualifier of the month. The HSR Qualifiers are run throughout the month of March leading up to the Indiana Indoor State Finals on Saturday March 28th. Tuesday was the Golden Eagle's and Lady Eagle's 4th HSR Qualifier of the short season thus far and put them against 20+ schools including traditional Indy powerhouse programs the likes of Warren Central, Avon, Ben Davis, Carmel, Franklin Central, Lawrence North, Westfield, and Noblesville just to name a few. Our athletes battled all night and posted some impressive marks. In all they set 14 personal bests, 11 new Top 10 All Time Program Marks including 9 new Top 5 All Time bests, and 1 NEW Program record. Golden Eagle Junior Kyle Brower had the best finish of the night for OHTF winning the Pole vault in 14 feet. The mark breaks his own indoor program record of 13-6. The mark also ranks him in the Top 5 in the state currently. Brower's new record is 9 inches over the record previous to his at 13-3 held by his brother Nate along with Gavin Holz and Caiden Lake. The OHTF 3200 Meter Runners dropped some very impressive times and performances as well. Lady Eagle Junior Quinn Brunner dropped nearly 30 seconds off her lifetime best to run 12 minutes flat and finish 12th overall. Her time is the fastest by a Lady Eagle since Mollie Gamble in 2019 and the 4th fastest in Program History indoors behind Margo Hornocker, Gamble, and Jenna Norris. On the Golden Eagle's side Senior Corban Tippey and Wyatt Hart both also posted new personal bests in delivering the 2nd and 3rd best times in Program History indoors-the fastest in over 15 years. Tippey and Hart both came from behind to go 1-2 in their heat and finish 7th and 12th overall respectively. Tippey ran 9:50 breaking 10 minutes for the 1st time while Hart running the 3200 for the 1st time in his career posted a 10:05. Their times trail only Cameron Balser's 9:41 from 2010 for HSR Indoor 3200 times. The only other individual Top 10 finish on the night came from Lady Eagle Sophomore thrower Aubree Barcomb who threw a personal indoor best 27-11 in the Shot Put to take 10th. Some additional Top 10 Individual Program All Time bests posted by Golden Eagles on Tuesday were Juniors Jalen Scott, Dylan Archer, and Cayden Jones in the 60 Meter Dash a long with Freshman Dylan Hardcastle in the 60 Meter Hurdles. On the Lady Eagle's side Junior Annie Hale and Taylor Campbell both dropped Top 10 Program All Time marks in the 60 Meter Dash. Sophomore Alexei Butche dropped a season best in the 60 Meter Hurdles just missing the Program Top 10. The event featured only sprint relays and all 4 OHTF relays that competed Tuesday posted new season bests as well as Top 5 All Time Program marks. The Lady Eagle's 4x200 Meter Relay of Senior Audrey Rex along with Juniors Kora Pond, Annie Hale, and Lilly Edwards took 14th in the 4th best time in Program History. The 4x400 Meter Relay of Pond and Edwards a long with classmate Erika Newhouse and Sophomore Bri Dailey had the best OHTF relay finish on the night taking 9th overall in the 5th best time in Program History. The Golden Eagle's 4x200 Meter Relay of Scott, Archer, Jones, and Freshman Tayt Bowlin continued to improve taking 12th overall in the 4th best time in Program History. The 4x400 Meter Relay of Tippey along with Senior classmates Marc Caritos and Caden Myers were joined by Sophomore Christian Smiley to finish 11th overall and post the 5th best time in Program History. Lady Eagle Sophomore Brooklyn Young threw a season best in the Shot Put to take 17th. Bowlin also competed in the 60 taking 43rd overall. The OHTF athletes now wait for the week to conclude and for the State Rankings to be finalized. The Top 24 ranked athletes in each event qualify for the HSR State Indoor Finals. As we stand right now the OHTF is in position to possibly have all relays and a handful of individuals earn a State Finals qualification.
