The OHTF Golden Eagles wrapped up their 2026 indoor season with a strong 13th place finish at Saturday's Hoosier State Relays Indoor State Championships held at the Fall Creek Pavilion located within the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The Golden Eagles posted 2 new program records along with 2 additional Top 3 All Time Program Marks to earn All State Honors in 3 Events and score 13 points. The Top 20 finish is just the 7th ever for the Golden Eagles in the event. Overall in the separated Class 1a-2a-3a Division the Golden Eagles were the 2nd best finisher among Class 2a Football Programs and 3rd best finisher among Class 2a Basketball Programs. Indianapolis Bishop Chatard won the event. A pair of Golden Eagle Juniors - Jalen Scott and Kyle Brower - who were both returning HSR Finals Qualifiers and 2025 All State Top 8 Medalist repeated as All State Podium Finishers Saturday. Both athletes bettered their finish from a year ago and both set or matched new Program Records in the process. Scott entered the 60 Meter Dash ranked outside the Top 10 after finishing 5th a year ago. Scott's best time on the early season was 7.1 while his own program records was 7.0. After being ranked 6th post trials Saturday Scott dropped an impressive sub 7 at 6.95 to finish 3rd and All State Honors. Scott became the 1st Golden Eagle to ever break 7 seconds for the 60, in fact prior to Scott only one other Golden Eagle had ever broke 7.2 - Tahj Johnson. Scott's 3rd place finish is the best ever for a Golden Eagle in the sprint event. Brower matched Scott with a strong 3rd place All State Podium finish in the Pole Vault. Brower matched his season and Program Best 14 feet to take 3rd. With back to back "individual" Al State Medals Scott and Brower join a short list of Golden Eagles in Program History to also walk away with multiple individual medals in the same event. Sammy Sommers in two events in the 60 Hurdles and Long Jump, Corey Aughinbaugh in the High Jump, and Kegan Anderson in the 55 Hurdles are the only prior Golden Eagles to have also accomplished this feat. Scott and Brower earned the 32nd and 33rd Individual All State Medals in Program History. The Golden Eagle's 4x800 Meter Relay of Seniors Corban Tippey and Caden Myers along with Junior Wyatt Hart and Sophomore Christian Smiley earned All State accolades with an 8th Place Finish. The Golden Eagle foursome ran an impressive 8:18 nearly 12 seconds off their seed time and previous season best. The time is the 2nd fastest in Program History 2nd only to the State Runner Up squad from 2024 who posted an 8:08. It was the 2nd All State Honor Tippey has earned in the event. It was the 17th All State Relay finish in Program History. Tippey, Myers, and Hart doubled back in the Distance Medley Relay joined by Sophomore Noah Wagner to run 11:07 a season best and also the 3rd best time in Program History. The time had the Golden Eagles just off the podium in 11th overall. The only other event the Golden Eagles competed in Saturday was the 4x400 Meter Relay a group that consisted of Tippey, Wagner, and Smiley along with Senior Marc Caritos. The group took 22nd overall. The Golden Eagles now prepare for the 2026 Outdoor season with their 1st competition Thursday April 9th at Maconaquah.
