OHTF Golden Eagles Open 2026 Outdoor Season with Solid 78-53 Win Over Maconaquah. Tippey Wins 3 Events. Scott Wins 2 While Matching Pyle's 50 Year Old 100 Meter Program Record

The OHTF Golden Eagles got the 2026 Outdoor season started off Thursday with a solid 78-53 win over a talented Maconaquah team. The Golden Eagles won 10 of 16 events and saw the Program's oldest standing record matched. In all just 2 Golden Eagles won multiple events - Senior Corban Tippey and Junior Jalen Scott. Tippey took individual wins in the 1600 Meter Run and 800 Meter Run while anchoring the 4x800 Meter Relay. Joining him on the relay was Junior Wyatt Hart along with Sophomore's Josh Clark and Christian Smiley. Tippey, Hart, and Smiley were recently Indoor All State in the event. Scott won the 100 Meter Dash in a converted time of 10.6 that matches the Program record set by Damon Pyle in 1976. Scott had posted a 10.7 last year at the IHSAA Regional in winning the event. Scott was a IHSAA State Qualifier in the event in 2025 and was recently Indoor All State in the 60 Meter Dash for the 2nd straight year. Pyle's stand alone record was the oldest record on the OHTF list. Scott also anchored the 4x100 Meter Relay to a win. Joining him were classmates Cayden Jones and Dylan Archer along with Freshman Tayt Bowlin in 44.5, a Top 5 Program All Time mark. Other Golden Eagle winners on the night were Junior Luke Elzinga in the Long Jump with a leap well over 20 feet. Sophomore Jesse Zwirn back off injury that sidelined during indoor to win the High Jump. Senior Thane Jones with a big toss over 47 feet, nearly a 2 foot personal best, to win Shot Put, and a huge personal best from Sophomore Tristin Grinslade winning the Disc with a throw over 133 feet. Like Grinslade, Freshman Graham Arrendale got his 1st ever Varsity win in the 3200 Meter Run. Strong runner up finishes and performances on the night came from Sophomore Braylon Carey taking 2nd to Elzinga in the Long Jump clearing over 19 feet. Junior Rocky Johnson took 3rd for a 1-2-3 sweep. Elzinga 2nd in the High Jump with Zwirn. Hart was 2nd to Tippey in the 1600 while Freshman Steven Sherwood was 2nd to Arrendale in the 3200. Juniors Meyer Middlesworth and Ben Babinski both set personal bests of 10-6 and 10 in the Pole Vault to go 2-3. Scott added a 2nd in the 200 Meter Dash in 23.0 while newcomers Archer and Senior Jerald Graves both had strong races in the 100 and 200 dashes behind Scott posting Top 15 All Time Program Times in the 100 and Top 25 All Time Program Times in the 200 along with Jones. The Golden Eagles compete next Wednesday April 15th at Frankton.
