The OHTF Lady Eagles stockpiled points throughout the night Friday at home hosting the annual Grant 4 Championship Meet to win their 17th consecutive team title. The Lady Eagles totaled 90 pints out passing a very talented field with Mississinewa taking 2nd with 64.5, Eastbrook 3rd with 59.5, and Madison Grant 4th with 30. It was a total team effort as despite scoring an impressive 90 points the Lady Eagles managed to only win 5 of 16 events. Three Lady Eagles won multiple events on the night led by Senior Lexi Nuber, Junior Kora Pond, and Sophomore Lilly Hunt. Nuber and Pond combined with Junior Lilly Edwards and Sophomore Emi Babinksi to win the 4x400 Meter Relay to close out the night. Earlier in the meet Nuber won the 300 Meter Hurdles and posted a 3rd in the 100 Meter Hurdles. Pond added a win in the 400 Meter Dash leading a 1-2 finish in the event with Edwards. Pond added additional points on the night in the 200 Meter Dash and as the anchor of the 3rd place 4x100 Meter Relay that included classmate Annie Hale along with Seniors Audrey Rex and Ava Keith. Hunt grabbed an individual win in the 800 Meter Run leading a 1-2 finish with Freshman Cali Myers. Hunt and Myers combined with Senior Biruk Travis and Junior Quinn Brunner to start the meet off with a win in the 4x800 Meter Relay. Travis and Brunner added big points in the distance events all night as Brunner took 2nd and Travis 3rd in the 1600 Meter Run while in the 3200 Meter Run Travis was 2nd and Brunner 3rd. In both races the pair of Lady Eagles were chasing Eastbrook All State distance runner Alayna Bruckner. Keith scored strong point throughout the night taking 2nd in the Pole Vault and 4th in the Long Jump. Newhouse added a 3rd in the Long Jump and 300 Meter Hurdles behind Nuber, Hale a 3rd in the 200 Meter Dash, and Sophomore Callie Nuber took 3rd in the Pole Vault. Keith and Nuber both tied or broke the previous meet record in the event in taking 2nd and 3rd. In the High Jump Senior Sophia Rowland led the way with a 3rd place finish. While in the throws Sophomore Brooklyn Young stepped up to take a strong 2nd in the Discus after scoring points in the Shot Put. Other Top 5 placing point scorers on the night were - Hale 4th 100 M Dash Eva Tripp 4th High Jump Sarah Beth Tripp 4th Discus With their win the OHTF Lady Eagles or Golden Eagles have now won at least 1 Grant 4 Team Title ever year since 1996. The Lady Eagles are back in action Tuesday May 5th at Mississinewa and then compete in the Central Indiana Conference Championship next Friday May 8th.
