Oak Hill High School is proud to announce that Andrew King, Head Wrestling Coach, has been elected to the Indiana Wrestling Hall of Fame. Mr. King graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1981 and has served as head wrestling coach since the start of the 1987–88 season. Over 39 seasons, his teams have compiled a dual meet record of 611-174-2 (.778). During that time, they have won 37 Grant 4 championships, 22 conference championships, 25 sectional championships, 5 regional championships, and 1 semi-state championship. In addition, 22 of his wrestlers have qualified for the state finals. Throughout his career, Mr. King has been an outstanding mentor and role model for the young men and women of our community. We congratulate him on this well-deserved honor. “Coach King’s name was raised by former Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association president and Hall of Fame member Dr. Trent McCormick. There was widespread agreement on the committee that Coach King’s body of work represents the type of career we want to recognize with induction into the Hall of Fame. When interacting with Coach King, I have always been impressed by his collegiality, passion for the sport, and care for his athletes. One of the best parts of being involved with the Hall of Fame is getting to make that phone call to let a coach know they are being inducted. When Coach King received the call, he was very humble and grateful for the recognition,” said Dave Cloud, head coach at Pendleton Heights High School and a past president of the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association. “Coach King has built something truly special at Oak Hill High School, and we are incredibly proud of the work he and our wrestling program have done over the years,” said Ryan Fagan, Athletic Director at Oak Hill High School. “The success of the program goes far beyond wins and championships — it has become a source of pride for our entire community and has impacted generations of students. We are fortunate to have someone like Andrew leading our wrestlers. His dedication to our student-athletes, our school, and our community has made a lasting difference, and this recognition is very well deserved.” The induction ceremony for Andrew King into the Indiana Wrestling Hall of Fame will take place sometime during the next school year. Additional details regarding the ceremony will be shared as they become available.
