OHTF JH Golden Eagle 8th Grader Brantley Blair followed up his record breaking Middle School State Title in Cross Country this past fall with a pair of State Championships and State Records at Saturday's Indiana Middle School State Finals held on Indiana State University's campus. Blair won state titles in both of his events the 1600 Meter Run and 2400 Meter Run. Blair was a State Runner Up in the 2400 a year ago. Blair won the 1600 in a record breaking run of 4:18. This time is just seconds off the National Middle School Record for the event. The previous record was 4:29. Blair won by nearly 15 seconds over 2nd place. In the 2400 Blair left the field almost immediately on his way to a 6:50 winning time bettering the previous record by nearly 25 seconds - a record he set with the event winners in 2025. He became the 1st Indiana Middle School boy to break 7 minutes in the event. Blair now looks to compete in multiple National Level events in the weeks ahead. While he did not run the 800 Meter Run at the State Finals Blair finished the season with the fastest time in the state in that event as well. OHTF had two other athletes compete Saturday. Lady Eagle Kourtney Volmer took 13th in the Lon Jump. Her new program record would have put her in contention for the Top 3 but steps were off all competition. Volmer had a great spring winning nearly every event she competed in and leading the Lady Eagles to a Central Indiana Conference Championship where she won 4 events. Golden Eagle Samuel Fern competed in the Shot Put where the 8th grader entered as the lowest seed at 26th but finished 20th in the meet.
