The OHTF Lady Eagle's successful 2026 season came to an end Tuesday at the IHSAA Fort Wayne Carroll Regional. The Lady Eagles had athletes competing in half of the 16 events featuring the best athletes in the extended Fort Wayne northeastern section of the state but did not manage to have an athlete or relay qualify for the IHSAA State Finals. The best result of the day came from the Lady Eagle's 4x800 Meter Relay that took 5th overall just missing a State Finals qualification finishing behind perennial State Power-house Cross Country and Endurance / Distance Programs Columbia City, Homestead, Concordia, and FW Carroll. The Lady Eagle's relay consisted of Senior Biruk Travis, Juniors Quinn Brunner and Kora Pond, along with Sophomore Lilly Hunt. The foursome posted a time of 9:51, 3 seconds faster than their Sectional winning time a week ago. The time also set a NEW Grant County and OHTF All Time Program Record. Last week when the ladies posted a 9:54 they became just the 2nd Grant County group to ever break 10 minutes in the event. The previous record was over a decade old at 9:52.3 and set in 2015 by Lady Eagles Margo Hornocker, Shallen Lenhart, Savannah Hart, and Camille Taylor. That relay as well finished just a spot out of the State Finals in 2015. The relay this spring which also at times included Freshman Cali Myers and Senior Addison Carey qualified for the Indoor State Finals and won Championships at the County, Conference, and Sectional. For perspective, only 1 other Lady Eagle's 4x8 had previously broken 10:05 in Program History. The only other Top 10 finishes on the day came to Sophomore Callie Nuber who took 9th in the Pole Vault clearing her personal best 8-6 as well as the 4x400 Meter Relay which bettered its Sectional Championship time by 1 second to 4:13 to finish 10th. Pond anchored the relay and was joined by Senior Lexi Nuber, Junior Lilly Edwards, and Sophomore Emi Babinski. Pond and Travis came back individually to both take 12th respectively in the 400 Meter Dash and 800 Meter Run while Brunner was 13th in the 1600 Meter Run. Senior Nuber was 14th in the 300 Meter Hurdles. Freshman Eva Tripp was 17th in a 30+ athlete High Jump after receiving a callback to compete in the event. The Lady Eagle's season featured multiple Indoor State Meet Qualifiers, another Grant 4 Championship, another Central Indiana Conference Championship, and a strong 100+ point Sectional Runner Up finish. The Lady Eagles were ranked online in the Top 5 of Class 2a all outdoor season. In all 5 Lady Eagles broke the always impressive 100 points scored barrier on the season with Brunner finishing as the leading scorer with 122.75 points. Sophomore Bri Dailey who missed Tuesday's Regional with an injury finished 2nd with 115.5 points Also breaking 100 points on the season were Nuber (Lexi), Travis, and Pond. The coaching staff wants to thank the Senior Class for their amazing careers and commitment to the program. Nuber and Travis who competed Tuesday along with classmates Carey, Sarah Beth Tripp, Ava Keith, Audrey Rex, Madelyn Cheek, Kaitlyn Scalf, Sophia Rrowland, Amaia Blades, and Lydia Trexler.
