Fresh off the IHSAA State Finals this past weekend, which saw 6 OHTF Golden Eagles compete and earn respective Top 20 in the State Finishes, 2 of those athletes have now been honored as Indiana All Stars. Junior Jalen Scott and Senior Corban Tippey were both selected by the State Coaches Association as Indiana All Stars to compete this Saturday June 13th at Hamilton Southeastern High School in the 52nd Annual Midwest Meet of Champions. The pair who were the Top 2 point scorers on the season for the Golden Eagles (Tippey 1st with 149.25 - Scott 2nd with 120.25) become just the 12th and 13th OHTF Athletes in Program History to be named Indiana All Stars and compete in the prestigious event. In all, OHTF Athletes have competed in 20 events in the Midwest Meet of Champions in Program History with the 1st not coming until 2012. Over the last 4 years alone OHTF Athletes have now competed 11 times. The event once featured the Top Seniors from Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana but over the last 3 seasons has had to take on a similar format to other sports putting the Top Seniors up against the Top Juniors. Scott will run the open 100 Meter Dash after being the Top Junior finisher at the State Finals. Tippey will run a leg on the 4x800 Meter Relay for the Seniors. Previous Golden Eagle Indiana All Stars were - Lance Wyrick (25 Seniors / 24 Juniors) Trenton Sweet (24 Seniors / 23 Juniors) Owen Jackson (24 Seniors / 23 Juniors) Tahj Johnson (20) Sammy Sommers (19) Michael Moffitt (12) Alec Samuels (12) ***Lady Eagle Indiana All Stars - Cail Bowlin (25), Ellie Campbell (25, 24), Margo Hornocker (18), Janae Moffitt (15)*** Scott earned the opportunity after taking 12th Place at the State Finals in the 100 Meter Dash. He was a Regional Runner Up in the event and Sectional Champion. He won Grant 4 and Central Indiana Conference Championships in the event as well along with Grant 4 and Sectional Championships as the anchor on the 4x100 Meter Relay. Scott earned All State Honors Indoors with a 3rd Place Finish in the 60 Meter dash at the Indoor State Finals. Scott broke his own Indoor 60m Program Record this season as well as tied the Long standing 100m Program Record held by Damon Pyle. Tippey earned the opportunity by helping the Golden Eagle's 4x8 Relay catch fire late in the season and break the always tough 8-minute barrier earning a trip to the State Finals. The Golden Eagle's relay entered the Sectional as the 5th seed but took 1st at Sectional then 4th at Regional to punch their ticket to State where the ultimately took 19th Saturday. Tippey's 1:55 split at the Regional helped the Golden Eagle secure the spot at State and was the 3rd best replay split in Program History. Tippey also helped the 4x8 Relay go undefeated on the season outdoors winning Championships at the Grant 4, Conference, and Sectional. He was also a Sectional Champion in the 1600 Meter Run and 3200 Meter Run. He was the Grant 4 and Conference Champion as well in the 3200. Tippey along with the 4x8 Relay earned All State Honors Indoors. Tippey qualified for the Indoor State Finals in 4 events. The Midwest Meet of Champions starts at 4:30 pm Saturday with the Parade of Athletes. Tippey will race at 5:15 pm while Scott will compete at 5:55 pm.
