For the 5th time in their 5 years attending the event since 2020 the OHXC Lady Eagles traveled South to compete in the prestigious Rick Weinheimer Columbus North Classic and came away with a Top 5 Team Podium Finish. The event sees more than 2,000 runners combined in all the races from 3 state compete in one large race consisting of nearly 55 schools. After the race the results are broken up by football class into Large School (4a-5a-6a) and Small School School (1a-2a-3a). Saturday in hot tough conditions the Lady Eagles closed out a brutally hot week with their 3rd straight Small School Team Top 3 Finish with 99 points. The Lady Eagles were to Top Class 1a-2a team in the 32 school field trailing only 3a Greensburg (33) and Edgewood (83). Southwestern Hanover was 4th with 125 while Forest Park and Brown County were 5th and 6th with 141 and 193 points respectively. In the combined "all classes" results the Golden Eagles would have been 18th behind a school from Ohio and 16 much larger Indiana schools including defending 5 Top 25 Indiana Ranked Teams with #4 Westfield winning the event. The Top 20 individuals in each division earn a spot on the podium taking home medals. On a day where times were slow across all the results due to the conditions Lady Eagle Senior Quinn Brunner and Junior Rossi Skinner posted a pair of Top 10s to lead the way. Brunner broke 21 minutes posting a 20:56 good enough for 7th. Skinner ran 21:43 for 9th. Junior Lilly Hunt was just out for the medals in 22nd at 22:33. Sophomore Shelby Hollingsworth was 30th with Senior Lilly Snyder rounding out the Top 5 scorers in 33rd. Freshman Lucy Devers making her 1st varsity appearance of the season was 39th overall. Sophomore Elayna Cates rounded out the Varsity Top 7 with a 41st. The Lady Eagles are back in action next Saturday September 12th competing in the Wildcat Classic held at Indiana Wesleyan University.
