The Class 2a #1 State Ranked OHXC Golden Eagles managed to win their 11th straight Central Indiana Conference Saturday at IWU in dominating fashion with a low 21 points. The Golden Eagles have now won 22 Conference Championships the last 25 years. Saturday they put 6 athletes in the Top 10 and overall also managed to set a new program record with 11 athletes earning All Conference Honors - having previously had 10 honorees multiple times. Freshman Brantley Blair was the individual Champion in 16:03. Blair became the 1st Freshman to win the individual conference title since Josh Neideck of Eastbrook in 2010. His time is the fastest since Brennan Butche in 2018 and the fastest ever time ever ran in the conference meet at IWU by a Golden Eagle surpassing Trenton Sweet who ran 16:12 to win in 2023. With his individual title Blair became the 26th individual Champion at the CIC for OHXC and the 19th in the last 21 years. The Golden Eagles did all this Saturday without #2 runner and Grant 4 Champion Senior Wyatt Hart who sat the meet to rest a slight injury in preparations for the upcoming IHSAA Tourney series. Junior Josh Clark stepped up and took Runner Up honors behind Blair in 17:05. Joining Blair and Clark on the All CIC 1st Team with Top 10 finishes were Juniors Bret Hueston in 4th, Grant Melton in 6th, and Gavin Key in 8th. Freshman Brekyn Pritchett took 9th for the Golden Eagles last of 6 1st Team selections. The Golden Eagles managed to put 5 more athletes on the All CIC Honorable Mention team with Sophomore Graham Arrendale taking 11th, Senior Eli Leak 14th, Junior Jace Hueston 15th, Junior Christian Smiley 16th, and Freshman Colson Woodard 20th. 8 of the 11 All CIC Golden Eagle performers ran personal bests in the process. Blackford was CIC Runner Up with 55 points while Eastbrook was 3rd with 95 and Mississinewa rounded out the Top 4 with 115 points. The Golden Eagles are now off for 2 weeks leading up to the start of IHSAA Tourney Series with the Marion Sectional held at IWU on Saturday October 17th.
