OHXC Lady Eagles Advance to Regional Just 1 Point Shy of Championship - Brunner is Individual Runner Up while Hunt earns a Top 5

By Paige Brunner | Oct 17, 2026 3:26 PM

The Class 2a #5 ranked OHXC Lady Eagles behind a pair of Top 5 finishes from Senior Quinn Bunner 2nd and Junior Lilly Hunt 4th came up just short of winning back to back IHSAA Marion Sectional titles falling to Class 3a State Ranked Yorktown 51-52 Saturday at IWU. Despite the tough loss the Lady Eagles advanced to next Saturday's IHSAA Manchester Regional. It is the 19th straight year the Lady Eagles have advanced out of the Sectional and 4th straight year advancing to the Super Regional / Semi State. The race came down to the final stretch back and forth before Yorktown had a runner pass multiple people down the stretch to give the Lady Tigers the win. Frankton was 3rd with 97 points with Mississinewa 4th with 106, and Marion 5th with 127. The Lady Eagles pushed Yorktown behind 5 lifetime personal bests and all 7 athletes bettering their pre-meet ranking. Brunner was the Individual Runner Up posting a new personal best 19:44. It is Brunner's 1st run under the 20 minute barrier and moves her into the Top 10 All Time in Program History. Brunner's time is the 7th best ever by a Senior Lady Eagle and nearly a minute faster than last year's Sectional Champion OHXC's own Biruk Travis. Hunt also posted a lifetime best that was better than the winning time a year ago clocking 20:15 good enough for 4th. Hunt's time moved her up into the Top 15 in Program All Time Rankings. Joining Brunner and Hunt in the Top 15 earning All Sectional Honors was Junior Rossi Skinner who was 11th in 20:50. Brunner earned her 3rd Top 15 All Sectional Honor, Hunt and Skinner their 2nd each. Brunner became just 1 of 7 Lady Eagles to have earned a Top 15 finish advancing to the Super Regional / Semi State in Program History. Sophomore Shelby Hollingsworth and Freshman Lucy Devers posted career bests to finish 16th and 19th respectively. Freshman Verity Bishop and Senior Lilly Snyder both posted Top 30 finishes coming in 24th and 27th. The Lady Eagles compete Saturday October 24th in the IHSAA Manchester Regional held at Manchester High School. The meet will feature 25 teams including multiple State Ranked teams competing for 5 spots in the IHSAA State Finals plus individuals.
