The Golden Eagles started the season notching one in the win column after a hard-fought non-conference victory over The Eastern Comets. Eastern drew first blood in the match up with an opening possession touchdown drive. Junior Drake Pond quickly answered for the Eagles, returning the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for a score. The Comets were able to put another 3 on the board before the end of the first quarter making the score 9-6. The Golden Eagles took the lead in the second quarter and went into the locker room up 16-9 at halftime after a 19 yard touchdown run from Sophomore Carlos Christobal and a 26 yard field goal by Drew Elzinga. After a scoreless third quarter Oak Hill fullback Dillon Archer plunged into the endzone from 3 yards out early in the 4th quarter pushing the lead to 23-9. A 1 yard touchdown run on 4th down from Isaac Mitchner put the nail in the Comets coffin. A final score of 30-15 pushed the Golden Eagles to 1-0 to begin the season.
