The 8th grade Lady Eagles wanted to end in fashion with an overtime and last second shot to win the game over the Bruins. The first half of the game was back and forth, neither team wanting to give up the lead when they had it. Kora Weller decided to take the lead herself with a buzzer beater right before the half to take the lead, 11-10. That gave the Eagles some energy and they were able to win the third quarter. Blackford got into some foul trouble and one of their players went down with an ankle injury in the fourth quarter causing them to only have four players on the court. This caused some miscommunication and confusion for the Lady Eagles, so Blackford was able to stay right in the game. Free throws made a big difference tonight for the Oak Hill squad and two in particular saved the game. With the time running out in regulation, the Lady Eagles were down by two points. Ava David powered through some defenders and shot the ball. She was fouled on the shot and the timer went off. With no time left, she had to make both free throws to keep the girls in the ballgame. She swished both putting the game into a 3-minute overtime. Once again the clock counted down to the last couple seconds. Ava took the ball out of bounds with just 1.9 seconds left. She passed it into Aleese Warnock, who passed it right back to Ava. She took the shot and banked in a three-pointer to win the ballgame!! High scorer for the Lady Eagles was Kora Weller with 9 points and 3 steals. Ava David had 7 points all in the 4th quarter and OT. She also had 5 steals. Kiersten Peterson had 5 points along with 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Aleese Warnock had 7 steals and Kalinn Larimore put 4 points on the board along with 4 steals.
