Cooper McQuiston had himself a meet over this past weekend. He swims for the Oak Hill Swim Club and represented the club and Oak Hill with class and determination over the three-day event. He earned two state championships (100 Freestyle and the 200 Freestyle), two third place finishes (50 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly) and a 7th place finish (200 Backstroke). Cooper's championship swim in the 100 Freestyle also broke a State Meet Record with a time of 46.27. Cooper was joined by other teammates from the club (they attend different schools) and another Oak Hill student, his younger brother Eli (Sweetser Elementary) who swam 4 events himself over Saturday and Sunday. Along with his new state record, Cooper also earned 3 top 25 National Rankings. Those top 25 events are the 50 Free, 100 Butterfly and the 200 Free. His 100 Free earned him the 5th fastest time in the Nation this season for all 13–14-year-old male swimmers. I was very proud with not only his professional attitude over the long weekend. But with how he cheered for and supported his fellow Oak Hill Swim Club teammates and how he celebrated and congratulated his fellow competitor's victories. Cooper showed what Oak Hill represents. A tireless effort and drive that is accompanied by humility and good sportsmanship. Congratulations Cooper for your success at State and good luck to you at Speedo Sectionals this coming weekend!
