Oak Hill Varsity Softball beat Eastern 13-3 in first home game of the season. The girls started off scoring 6 runs in the first inning, capitalizing on several errors made by the Comets. Lex Myers was hit by a pitch to start of the inning and Karsyn Wiley reached first on an error and Jolee Hawkins was able to score L. Myers and achieve first base on an error. Madison Archer hit a hard ball up the middle scoring 2 runs and then advanced to second base after a wild pitch. Liz Godfrey hit a high flyer that the leftfielder wasn't able to hang onto and scored Madison Archer. Pathie Speicher hit a pop up that no one was able to touch and scored Liz Godfrey. Riley Myers laid down a slap and beat out the throw to first. Lex Myers came up to bat again in the same inning and hit a double scoring P. Speicher. The next two innings the Eagles were unable to score and left 3 runners on. They came back swinging in the 4th inning to make the score 12-0. Jolee Hawkins started the inning off with a single into right field. Then Madison Archer hit a triple to score Hawkins. Liz Godfrey hit a sacrifice fly into center to score Archer. With 2 outs, Madi Evans hit a triple between center and right followed by a double by Pathie Speicher. Riley Myers laid down another slap and then stole 2nd base. Lex Myers drew a walk and Karsyn Wiley hit a hard single passed the 3rd baseman to score 2 runs. Eastern had a surge in the 5th inning and were able to score 3 runs to continue the game. However, the Eagles were able to put up one run in the bottom of the 5th inning to run-rule the Comets. Archer hit a double and Becca laid down a sacrifice bunt and on the throw to first, an error was made and Archer was able to score. Riley Myers lead the Eagles with 3 hits. K. Wiley, M. Archer, and P. Speicher each had 2 hits a piece, with M. Archer having 3 RBIs and Speicher & Wiley with 2 RBIs. K. Wiley pitched the first 4 innings for the Eagles. She only allowed 2 hits, 0 runs and had 4 strike-outs. M. Archer rounded up the game in the 5th inning and only allowed 2 hits. The Lady Eagles play again at Bluffton Monday April 14th.
