The Lady Eagles were victorious tonight against county rival Madison-Grant for another victory in the CIC conference. 12-9 The Argylls struck first after a couple errors by the Eagles in the first inning, scoring 3 runs. Oak Hill answered in the 2nd inning, scoring their own 3 runs to tie up the game. Becca Cardona started it off with a base hit into right field, followed by a blooper by Pathie Speicher who was able to get to first on an error. Liz Godfrey drew a walk to load the bases. Alexa Myers comes up and hits a shot into right field over the right fielder's glove to score the 3 runs for the Eagles. Madison-Grant was able to score another run in the 3rd due to some errors in the field making the score 4-3 MG. Fourth inning was started off by P. Speicher, who reached first on an error. L. Godfrey then proceeded to lay down a sacrifice bunt to advance Speicher to second base. Ryleigh Myers moves her over and advances to first on a hard hit slap to the pitcher. Jolee Hawkins then gets up and rips a hard ball past the third baseman to score 2 runs. Karsyn Wiley hit a high flyer to center who dropped it, allowing J. Hawkins to score the 3rd and final run of the inning. Oak Hill scored again in the 5th inning, starting with a walk from B. Cardona. Hadleigh Bricker then ropes one into right field and caused some confusion for the Argylls, which Cardona took advantage of and scored. Liz Godfrey stepped to the plate and drove the ball over the left center fence scoring 2 runs on her home run. Madison-Grant would not give up without a fight and were able to score 5 runs in the 6th inning to tie the score 9-9. The girls responded and came out ready to take back the lead in the top of the 7th inning. Pathie Speicher started off the rally with a hard hit single up the middle. She was again moved to second base by a sacrifice bunt by L. Godfrey. R. Myers reached first after a beautiful slap. Riley Archer was subbed into the game to run for Speicher and on J. Hawkins' hard hit that bounced away from the third baseman, she took home to put the Eagles ahead by 1 run. Karsyn Wiley, who was due for a hit, stepped up to the plate and roped the ball into left field, scoring 2 runs. The Eagles' defense and their pitcher worked together to hold MG from scoring in the bottom of the 7th. R. Myers went 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored. L. Myers went 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs. J. Hawkins had 2 hits, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBIs. B. Cardona went 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored. Karsyn Wiley pitched a complete game for the Lady Eagles and had 4 strikeouts. She kept the good bats of MG on their toes the whole game and celebrated a second CIC win of the season. Oak Hill returns to play Saturday for the Grant Four at Madison-Grant.
