Two of the fastest and most successful Lady Eagles to ever come through the OHTF Program concluded their record breaking careers Saturday competing as Indiana All Stars at the 51st Annual Midwest Meet of Champions at Hamilton Southeastern. Cail Bowlin and Ellie Campbell both represented the Senior Team. Bowlin was selected to compete in the 200 Meter Dash while Campbell was selected to compete initially in the 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash, and Long Jump but gave up her spot in the 100 for another athlete to be selected and compete. The yearly event is held a week after the IHSAA State Finals and sees the Top 4 Seniors in each event compete against the Top 4 Juniors in each event. Along with classmate Lance Wyrick who represented the Golden Eagles on the Senior Team, the trio of OHTF Athlete's became part of 15 Indiana All Stars for OHTF since 2012. Campbell for the 2nd straight year found her way to the Top 6 Medal Podium in 2 Events. As a Junior Campbell earned Top 6 Medals in the Long Jump and High Jump while this year she grabbed a 4th Place Medal in the Long Jump with another jump over 18 and a 5th Place Medal in the 200 with a new personal best 25.95 - a time that nearly broke the school record set a year ago by Leah Highley at 25.93. Campbell and Highley are the only 2 OHTF Lady Eagles to ever break 26 seconds in the event. On the season Campbell dropped over 1.5 seconds in the 200, which is almost unheard of. Campbell's jump of 18 feet was the 3rd time she had broken 18 feet this season and 4th time in her career. She jumped over 18-3 a week ago to earn a 1st Team All State Medal at the IHSAA State Finals. While some people break a school record Campbell has owned the Long Jump Record Board. The Top 2 jumps in Program History prior to Campbell's 3 years as a jumper were 17-1.25 and 16-6.75. Campbell as stated above has been over 18 feet 4 times in her career including the Program and Grant County Best 18-6.25, as well as having jumped over the old record 17-1.75 nearly 20 times in the last 2 years alone. Once again winning the event was Heritage Christian's Kya Crooke who broke both the High Jump and Long Jump State Records a week ago and is ranked in the Top 2 both Nationally and in the World in her age group. Campbell became the 1st Lady Eagle Athlete to be both a Junior and Senior All Star for OHTF. Her 4 combined Midwest Meet of Champions Medals is also a Program Best for male or female athletes. Campbell's performance wrapped up a tremendous career that featured hold 7 OHTF Program Records, being a 3 time State qualifier, a 4 time Outdoor and Indoor 1st Team All State athlete, 2 Time IHSAA Regional champ, 6 Time Sectional champ, and having led the Lady Eagles to 4 County Titles, 4 Conference Titles, 3 Sectional Titles, and back to back Top 10 Regional finishes. After spending a large portion hidden in Campbell's speedy shadow Bowlin also earned the opportunity to compete for Team Indiana. The Indiana Wesleyan commit had quietly put together one of the Top 3-4 sprint careers in OHTF Program History. Bowlin just missed a spot on the podium Saturday with a 7th Place finish in 200. Bowlin, who was the Sectional Champion and a 2 Time Regional Qualifier in the event finishes her career with the 4th fastest time ever by a Lady Eagle trailing only Highly and Campbell along with the old program record holder Walker. The foursome of the Lady Eagles are the only athletes in program history to break 27 seconds. She ranks 5th in the Program History in the 100 Meter Dash joining Campbell, Schwarze, Highley, and Danielle Thompson as only Lady Eagles to ever break 13 seconds. Bowlin and Campbell together have also set multiple program records in the sprint relay having broke the 4x100 Meter Relay and 4x200 Meter Relay Program Records both last year as Juniors and again this year as Seniors.
