OHXC Golden Eagles Open Season as Top Small School Finisher with Strong Top 15 Finish at 35 School Terre Haute South Valley Kickoff - Tippey Leads Way with Impressive Top 30 Run

The OHXC Golden Eagles traveled South to open the 2025 season competing in the Terre Haute South Valley Kickoff Classic. The Golden Eagles competing on the world famous Lavern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course (home of the IHSAA State Finals, past NCAA Championships at all levels, and Nike NXR Regional Meets) finished an impressive 13th out of 35 schools, a field that included 6 Top 25 State Ranked Teams including #1 ranked defending State Champion Bloomington North. The Golden Eagles were the top Small school finisher. Bloomington North did take the team title. In all the field included the #1, #6, #8, #12, #17, and #25th team in the State. Senior Golden Eagle Corban Tippey had a very impressive run battling in the Top 15 most of the day in a tough field in tough conditions before ultimately finishing 26th overall in the 288 athlete field. Fellow Senior Brayden Sommers was the 2nd Golden Eagle to cross the line in 80th with Junior Wyatt Hart not far behind in 97th. Just behind Hart was Sophomore Josh Clark also grabbing a Top 100 finish in 99th. The Golden Eagles Top 5 scorers were rounded out by Sophomore Bret Hueston in 124th. Junior Eli Leak was 184th while Sophomore Gavin Key took 195th. Freshman Graham Arrendale was on pace for a strong 5k debut but fell ill before the finish. The Golden Eagles are back in action next Saturday competing in the Jeremy Wright Cross Country Small School Classic in Shelbyville.
