The OHXC Lady Eagles traveled South to open the 2025 season competing in the Terre Haute South Valley Kickoff Classic held on the world famous Lavern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course (home of the IHSAA State Finals, past NCAA Championships at all levels, and Nike NXR Regional Meets). The Lady Eagles only traveled with 5 athletes and had 1 athlete fall ill and have to drop out due to the extreme heat with less than 400 meters to go. As a result the Lady Eagles did not register a team school in the 35 team field that featured 7 Top 25 State Ranked Teams including defending State Champion Carmel who won the event. In all the field included the #2, #4, #5, #8, #14, #16, and #24th team in the State. Junior Quinn Brunner and Senior Biruk Travis Both had impressive runs finishing in the Top 100. Brunner took 68th overall with Travis coming in 78th respectively in the 256 athlete field. Sophomore Rossi Skinner was close behind both Brunner and Travis coming out of the last turn primed for a Top 100 finish as well but was unable to finish. Sophomore Lilly Hunt was 126th while Junior Lilly Snyder battled the conditions as well coming in at 211. The Lady Eagles are back in action next Saturday when they travel South again to compete in the Jeremy Wright Small School Classic held in Shelbyville.
