The OHXC Lady Eagles had a very strong showing finishing 2nd at Saturday's 41 School Jeremy Wright Memorial Small School Invitational held in Shelbyville. The event featured only Class 1a and 2a Programs. The Lady Eagles put 4 athletes on the Top 30 Podium all earning Top 15 Finishes in the field of the nearly 200 runners. Add in a solid 5th and 6th place runner in the Top 37 and the ladies earned a Runner Up finish behind a very strong Southwestern Hanover team to a score of 51-58. SW Hanover is one of the State's highest ranked small schools and is a defending Sectional Champion. Faith Christian was 3rd in 92 while Indy Genesis was 4th in 117. Only the Top 6 were under 200 points. Senior Biruk Travis and Junior Quinn Brunner led the way with a pair of Top 10s. Travis was 6th while Brunner was 10th. Sophomores Lilly Hunt and Rossi Skinner just missed the Top 10 taking 11th and 15th respectively while both also earning Podium honors. The 5th Runner on the day was Senior Kaitlyn Scalf who just missed the podium in 35th. Classmate Sophia Rowland was the 6th runner in 37th and Junior Lilly Snyder rounded out the Varsity Top 7 in 47th. Senior Lady Eagle Lydia Trexler, competing in any competition for the 1st time since major reconstructive knee surgery last year, battled taking 104th. The Lady Eagles compete again next Saturday when they host the Oak Hill Invitational August 30th.
