After Slow Start, Golden Eagles Defeat Knights in 4th Quarter Thriller

The Golden Eagles' home opener did not begin as planned. Hosting the Norwell Knights Friday night, Oak Hill went down early and took a 5 point deficit into the locker room at halftime. After giving up two more third quarter touchdowns, the 4th quarter began with the Golden Eagles trailing 25-8. A 10 yard pass by Junior Jett Ott to Sophomore Jessie Zwirn and the subsequent two point conversion left the Eagles down 25-16, mid-way through the fourth. The defense came up with a stop on the next Knight drive and the offense capped off their second 4th quarter drive with a 25 yard touchdown pass from Ott to Senior Beckham Lamb. A three and out by the defense gave Oak Hill the ball back, down three with 3:30 remaining. Steadily marching down the field, the offense chewed nearly all of the clock and finished off the fourth quarter comeback with a 1 yard Dylan Archer (Jr.) TD plunge. Archer finished the game with 143 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Ott completed 10 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Drake Pond (Sr.) led the team with 4 receptions for 44 yards. Moving to 1-1, the Golden Eagles return to action next Friday at home as they welcome the Indians of Mississinewa (2-0) to The Hill.
