The young OHJHXC Golden Eagles and Lady Eagles opened their 2025 season Saturday competing in the annual Oak Hill Invitational. Both teams competed well in the 13 team fields. Golden Eagle 8th Grader Brantley Blair started off right where he left off last spring when he was the state runner up in the 2400 Meter Run at the Middle State Championships by smashing the school and meet record winning in a very impressive 3,000 meters time of 9:26.5. The previous meet record was 10:04. For perspective Blair won the Oak Hill Invite a year ago posting a winning time in 2024 of 10:35. One other Golden Eagle had a strong Top 40 day as 7th Grader Ellison Beights posted a respectable finish in 39th. The Golden Eagles as a team finished 6th. Scoring for the Golden Eagles Top 5 were also 6th graders Wesley Hagan and Asher Bowlin along with 7th grader Griffin Boswell. The young Lady Eagles team had a great showing as they ran to a Runner Up finish. The Lady Eagles totaled 88 points trailing event champion Southern Wells who won with 66. Heritage Christian was 3rd with 98 points. In all the Lady Eagles posted 5 impressive Top 30 finishes including 3 in the Top 20. 8th Graders Verity Bishop and Lucy Devers led the way coming in 11th and 12th. Lakyn Blair a 6th grader was just outside of a medal in 20th while classmate Brooklyn Bollhoefer was 27th overall. 7th Grader Brooklyn Disney was 29th overall. The OHJHXC teams compete next Saturday September 6th at the Marion Invitational held at IWU.
