The OHXC Golden Eagles advanced to the IHSAA New Haven Semi State finishing a close 2nd in Saturday’s Marion Regional. By finishing in the Top 5 the Golden Eagles advance to their 5th straight Semi State – earning them their 17th trip in the last 20 seasons. The 17 Semi States in the last 2 decades is a State Best for any school with an enrollment under 700 students (next best 13). The 5 straight Semi State appearances makes the Golden Eagles 1 of only 2 schools in the State with enrollment under 650 students to have a streak of 5+ Semi State qualifications. In all the Golden Eagles had 4 Top 20 finishers including 3 Top 15 All Regional Performers – Junior Sol O’Blenis 7th 16:25, Sophomore Landon Biegel 10th 16:28 (lifetime best), and Senior Jacob Winger 12th 16:41. Freshman Owen Jackson still battling back from an injury managed to creep up into the Top 20 finishing 19th in 17:16. Junior Lucas Cates 31st 17:41, Junior Landon Ashley 34th 17:44, and Freshman Trenton Sweet 44th 18:03 rounded out the Top 7. The Golden Eagles compete Saturday October 24th in the IHSAA New Haven Semi State at Huntington University.
